Vane Compressors
The CompAir V-series rotary vane compressors has been designed with versatility in mind and the range marks another step forward for intelligent air technology. The CompAir V75RS vane compressor is a variable output compressor which switches to reduced speeds in order match power consumption more precisely to air demand.
The design concept
The well proven combination of the CompAir rotary vane compressor directly driven by an Invensys Brook Crompton Eff1 efficient electric motor Auto-idle further increases efficiency by reducing off load running costs to less than 3% of full load power. Manual operation is also available for users with constant air demands where a continuous supply of constant pressure is required.
The rotary vane principle
The key to the success of the CompAir V-series compressor is the unique rotary vane principle. The compressor operates at a very low speed providing total reliability and long component life.
The rotor, the only continually moving part, has a number of slots into which fit sliding vanes that ride on a film of oil. The rotor rotates within the stator. During rotation, centrifugal force extends the vanes from their slots, forming individual compression cells.
Simplicity
The single rotor design, running at standard motor speeds allows direct drive arrangement.

Significant Energy Savings
Single speed compressors offer the best efficiency when delivering 100% capacity, however there is an energy loss when operating at part load. The V75RS solution is to combine the efficiency of a single speed compressor at 100% load with even better efficiency at part load. This saves electrical power costs in almost and compressed air installation.
The savings are achieved by the combination of an AC Pole Amplitude Modulating (PAM) electric motor directly coupled to the well proven CompAir rotary vane compressor. The electronic control system utilises standard switching gear to control the motor speed. As system demand fluctuates, the automatic switching of speeds between 1500 rpm and 1000rpm is controlled by an accurate pressure transducer, precisely matching output to demand.
